AdBlue Contamination

Throughout East Sussex we have encountered increasingly more examples of AdBlue contamination where a driver has put AdBlue right into their diesel tank. This is in part caused by motorists not knowing how to use it (remember: it's not a fuel additive), and partly because the inlets for diesel and AdBlue are usually right close to one another on the car.

Now, what exactly is the trouble with having AdBlue in the diesel car? Seeing as the product is mainly deionised water, it is actually as bad as putting water in your tank. Diesel and water do not ever blend in the slightest and attempting to run a diesel car on water isn't going to work. Furthermore, the urea is very corrosive to fuel system lines and seals and is susceptible to crystallisation, obstructing injectors and filters.
