AdBlue In Your Diesel

All over Powys we have noticed a growing number of examples of AdBlue contamination where a driver has put AdBlue right into their diesel tank. This is to a degree thanks to people not knowing the right way to work with it (remember: it is not a fuel additive), and to some extent because the filler necks for diesel and AdBlue are normally right near to each other on the car.

Now, what is the problem with having AdBlue in the diesel vehicle? Seeing as the product is predominantly ionised water, it is nearly as good as pouring water in to your tank. Diesel and water really don't mix in the least and trying to run a diesel car on water does not work. Moreover, the urea is fairly corrosive to the fuel system lines and seals and is prone to crystallisation, blocking injectors and filters.

In the event that you poured AdBlue in your fuel tank get it drained asap. And obviously be careful not to turn over the engine - not even to relocate it into a parking area. If you have started the car you will very likely need to have the full fuel system purged and filters changed out.

Water contaminated fuel

Fuel contaminated with water, no matter whether it's unleaded petrol or diesel, is undoubtedly a significant matter to take care of in a motor vehicle - particularly in modern common-rail engines. Water in your diesel or petrol is going to cause idling issues, uneven running, abnormal smoke and, if it's not dealt with properly, possibly broken injectors. Water in petrol is less difficult to clean out as compared to water in diesel - this is mostly due to the fact that diesel is an oil. However we can take care of both situations quite simply.

Be aware that if the vehicle was run with the fuel contaminated with water it will likely need a new fuel filter to be fitted because the previous one will undoubtedly be wholly water-logged and unusable.

Fuel Removal Machynlleth - Machynlleth Petrol in Diesel

I'd had a great day fishing on my off day and felt contented the next working day as I was on the way to aid a young couple on vacation in Machynlleth. They had pulled over after adding petrol into their Peugeot, and they were approximately an hour away. I arrived at their location and smiled while I listened to the lady telling her hubby off for being so silly. "Exactly how could you actually find a way to fill up with the wrong fuel?" she said to him. I tried to tell her that this problem happens frequently in Powys and that it's actually nothing at all to stress about, nonetheless he yet still had his ear bent by his better half. Poor lad. At any rate, I extracted all of the contaminated fuel, gave the engine a flush and filled them up with the proper fuel. Watching them drive away I shouted bon voyage and wondered what her indoors would tell me if I did the same thing... I'd under no circumstances live it down!
