AdBlue In your Fuel

Now, exactly what is the matter with putting AdBlue in a diesel tank? As AdBlue is predominantly ionised water, it's nearly as good as putting water into your tank. Diesel and water really don't mix in the least and attempting to run a diesel car on water will never work. Also, the urea is fairly corrosive to fuel system pipes and seals and is more prone to crystalising, clogging injectors and fuel filters.

Assuming you put AdBlue into the fuel tank empty it as quickly as possible. And absolutely never start up the motor - not even to shift it into a parking bay. Assuming you did start the car you would very likely need to have the complete fuel system cleaned and fuel filters changed out.

Water contaminated fuel, whether it is unleaded petrol or diesel, tends to be a serious issue to handle in a motor vehicle - particularly in current day common-rail engines. Water in your fuel can potentially lead to idling issues, lumpy running, excessive smoke and, if it's not addressed fully, possibly broken injectors.
